First, Three Members Give Speeches
The first section of the meeting is the Speech portion. Typically, three club members are scheduled to speak at each meeting, one after another. Each speaker is scheduled several weeks in advance and has plenty of time to prepare. The Toastmaster introduces each speaker (often using an introduction which was prepared by the speaker themselves), the speaker comes up and delivers their speech (usually 5-7 minutes long), everyone claps, then the Toastmaster resumes his role, says a few more words or comments, and then introduces the next speaker, until all speeches are delivered.
